Whew! Christmas was crazy for we three Taylors. We spent two whole weeks in West Virginia with our families, made a quick day trip to Kentucky to see more of Chris' family, and ate like we had tapeworms. Unfortunately we ended our wonderful vacation with a trip to the ER for me (Mastitis with a 102 temperature) and Austin and I both caught a cold. But we had a blast nonetheless. Here are a few of my favorite moments from the trip- some with pictures, some without. I promise I have loads of pictures from Austin's first Christmas, however they are on my parents computer at home. And since I have mommy brain I forgot to get them before we left. But they DO exist. And someday, perhaps in July, I will share them with you.
A few pieces of our Christmas fun:
- Inadvertently drugging my sister in law with Tylenol PM. Her knee was bothering her, and she walked over to me with two boxes of medicine. She asked which one she should take, and being distracted while wrapping presents I chose the one that was for nighttime pain . And hour later she is sleeping on the couch and we all are worried that she is sick. She kept on reassuring us that she was just tired. Later we realized the mistake, and I overheard her telling one of her friends on the phone that she had slept all day because her sister in law had drugged her. Whoops.
- The food. Oh the food. Not only did we make our usual trips to Leonoro's, Graziano's, Tudor's, and Chik- Fil- A, but we had all of that delicious Christmas food. I swear I would swim in ham gravy if given the opportunity.
- Austin's rehearsal 1st birthday. Since the whole point of a first birthday is to see the littlest person you love smash into a sugar filled confection, we decided to have a trial run for his 11 month birthday so the Grandparents could watch him on his first sugar high. It was priceless.

Hmmm. Icing you say?

I'll give it a try, but I'm not making any promises.

YAHTZEE! Where have you been all my life cupcake?!
- Austin starting to cruise furniture and beginning walking. I don't even want to think about it.

- Austin getting to spent time with his family and friends. And most of all, meeting his Uncle for the very first time. I jokingly offered for Uncle to change Austin's deuce diaper and when he accepted, none of us were shocked when he walked in with a gas mask. Again, one of those photos I have to get from my parent's computer. Austin also got to see Jon (Sister-in Law's cabana boy), Bobbie (Uncle's girlfriend), and Jarod (Chris' cabana boy- just kidding).
- Austin broke two teeth over Christmas. TWO TEETH?! Mommy is thinking maybe this is a good time to start weaning...

- And of course, our absolute best moment with Austin was sharing in his very first Christmas morning. I am sure he had NO clue what was going on, but he got to play with bows and wrapping paper, and you can't beat that with a stick in his book. At Gramie and Grandpa's he slobbered all over everyone else's things while Daddy opened his presents for him, and at Nana and Pop's he sat awestruck in a 3 foot tall stack of brightly papered boxes almost afraid to move. I feared we were looking at the makings of a present avalanche, but he did just fine. Apparently he had a good chat with the big guy at the mall (Santa- not Joe Paterno). Because this baby made out like a bandit.
