AC Is My Best Friend.

Well, summer has officially set in and that means lots of indoor play during the heat of the day. If you know me, you know that heat and I do NOT get along. I am the woman who sweats behind the knees checking the mail when it's 85 outside. I can't help it. I am of fair skinned people who descended from Ireland (along with some other countries that aren't particularly sunny either). So we usually are finished with play dates in the park and stroller walks before lunch so Mommy doesn't become wilted in the sun. And with the looks of Austin's complexion he isn't far behind on the fair skinned spectrum. Poor guy.

This weekend I walked into the Living Room and found Austin and Chris watching the DVD screen saver. We need to get out more.

The little ball pit we bought Austin has been a HUGE hit.

It's just like the one at McDonalds. Just smaller and without the poo.

I went to check the mail and Austin was waiting for me at the door.
Isn't he sweet?

Never mind.

Golf Clubs and Baby Butts.

Sunday was a gorgeous day, and since the weather has been so crappy lately, we almost didn't believe that the sunshine was for real. Maybe it WILL rain like the Weather Channel said it would...
Chris finally decided it was a good time to clean his beloved golf clubs, and Austin was there to "help". And by "help" I mean steal the brush Chris was trying to use and splash around in the bucket water. So to save the day Mommy supplied Austin his very own brush, bucket, and golf club to clean. I won't lie people, watching him cleaning made my eyes tear up and my heart swell with pride. He could have looked me dead in the eye and recited Shakespeare and I would have been no more impressed.
After Austin slaved away with his brush and bucket he decided it was time to break in his new baby pool. Mommy didn't have any of those swim diapers on hand, but how imperative could they be? (See photos below) He seemed to thoroughly enjoy himself, and I am pretty sure I will be spending a large chunk of my summer afternoons working on my tan next to a blow up pool filled with three inches of water.

Men at work.

Austin showing Daddy how it's done.

Concentrating on getting that brush into the bucket.

The neighbor kids were outside making a ruckus and Austin was giving them the stink eye.

"Must touch the camera lens..."

Splash, splash, splash!

And SNEEZE!

Splash.

Umm yeah. Mommy should have bought those special swim diapers.
Apparently these diapers can absorb liquids other than pee.

Forget it. Let's do this the West Virginia way.
No tan lines!

Blues Travelin' Baby

Last week Chris called at about 4pm to ask if I was interested in going to a concert in the park that evening. I casually asked who was playing, and when he said "Blues Traveler" I immediately said yes. What an awesome first concert for our little man! After about an hour and a half of running around over packing the backpack we finally set off for the river front of Albany.
Once we arrived we were a bit put off by the hordes of college students who apparently also felt that this was a good idea. We struggled through the crowd, found our friends and proceeded to hear bits of what we can only assume was the band (since we couldn't actually SEE them because of the crowd). Not quite what I had envisioned for Austin's first concert experience, but we had a pretty good time nonetheless. Maybe the Village People won't be as crowded...

Austin doing a bit of people watching.

People are funny! Yes Austin, especially those with cups of beer.

Daddy set Austin free. It was about then that I realized we needed a lasso and a sheep dog.

"Your baby is so cute! Can he have a balloon?"
