And a birthday wish...

For my Daddy. The guy who made me the bad a## that I am today.
You know that saying about giving a man a fish and he can eat for one day, but if you teach a man to fish he will eat for a lifetime? My Dad taught me how to fish with dynamite.
Happy Birthday Daddy!

Snow!

This past weekend we were supposed to get a TON of snow.
We woke up Sunday morning to a melting 2 inches. Am I happy about this? Yes. Was I a bit disappointed? Yes. We spent Saturday doing a few last minute things around the house getting it ready for cold weather. Most importantly, making room for my car in the garage. Chris' was already in the garage since he leaves uber early in the morning for work.
This weekend, a miracle happened. Chris and I, after 8 years of marriage, finally parked both cars in our garage. We always either had (a) no garage or (b) a one car garage. Or in the case of our house in Oregon, Chris chose to (c) put a Bowflex and exercise weights on his side instead of a car.
None of that matters now. It has finally happened. Two cars. One garage. And no scraping snow off windshields in the morning. Everyone sing it with me now...
Hallelujah!

There was just enough snow to built an Austin sized snowman.

 Austin kind of loved him.

I loved that Chris inadvertently covered his snowman parts with a leaf.
All Adam and Eve like.

Picture Perfect

Is it humanly possible to get a proper photograph of a three year old?

One where he isn't moving?

 Or assaulting the family dog?

Or mining for brain matter?

I didn't think so.
Maybe when he's four...

I'm too sexy...

For this bunny suit.

If you are wondering if my blog has just reached a new height of nerdiness, then your answer is yes.
Yes it has.
Chris' company had a family day yesterday. And as part of their good clean fun, you could try on a "Bunny Suit", or Cleanroom suit. It's what the guys and gals wear while they are making microchips.Yada yada yada. All I know is that it makes my eyeballs sweat. And I have a better appreciation for when Chris spends hours upon hours in the Cleanroom.

And now for something completely different:

 Chris shushing Austin.
Because people were actually working.
Not Chris, obviously.

The obligatory photo for Chris' mommy.
You're welcome Ellen.

And Austin's favorite part of the day. Seeing his BFF "L".
They also got free balloons. Which Austin almost lost in the parking lot.
Good thing Daddy can sprint like a gazelle through parked cars.
Like a gazelle.

Some Friendly Advice

Since I am watching all of the Scream movies before Halloween, I would consider this to be a valid concern.

Score!

It seems like very other day I am hearing stories about how so- and- so scored an awesome deal on Craigslist. Or so- and -so's hairdresser got a free something- or-other from their neighbor. You catch my drift? I am somehow, never so- and- so. Until this week.
Chris and I were taking a walk with the boy and the dog when we saw a well loved Little Tikes playhouse sitting on our neighbor's curb with a FREE sign on it. I got that look in my eye and Chris knew it was best not to argue. I was going to be that so- and- so. So help me. It was MY turn.
Cue us walking briskly back to our house to get the CRV. Chris mumbled something about being a bit embarrassed about taking something from his neighbor's curb in the twilight, that maybe we should wait until it was completely dark outside. I argued that taking the house when it was completely dark outside was WAY more creepy. We laid the seats down in the CRV, piled into the front, and totally crept up and parked in front of the neighbor's house. I saw they were out grilling, and walked up to the front door to ask if anyone had claimed the playhouse yet. They were very sweet and said it was all mine. ALL MINE! I AM SO-AND- SO! I run back to the car and tell Chris to move it because these things are VERY popular and I don't want to have to take someone out in front of this nice family during their dinner. We pick up the house, and because it is my life we are talking about here, it does not fit into the CRV. I suggest walking it back to the house. It can only be 1/4 of a mile or so. Chris then gets that look in HIS eyes and proclaims that we will put it on the roof rack of my car. And so that is how Chris ended up driving down our street going 5 mph with his wife hanging out of the back window hanging on to a used playhouse that is resting on the roof racks. I am pretty sure we are the most awesome people in our neighborhood now. Officially.
The next day I went outside and scrubbed it down twice, then popped the window shutters off and spray painted them a navy blue. They had faded to pink, and I just wasn't feeling it. I may take free houses off the curb, but I DO have standards. If I hadn't lost complete usage of my right arm after spray painting 4 small shutters I would have totally done some more painting. Maybe next Spring.
So $5 (worth of spray paint) later, this is what we have:

There it its. My awesome find.

So nice. So FREE.

Car Talk

If you have kids, then you know that some of the best conversations happen in the car.
Like this one:

Austin: Mommy, I need my guy. Pleeeeeeeeeease?

Me: WHAT guy Austin? Mommy is DRIVING.

Austin: Starting to whine. MY GUY.

Me: Starting to whine. Can you tell me what your guy looks like so I can find him?

Austin: My guy with a hot dog in his hat.

Me: Oh. THAT guy. It DOES look kind of like a hot dog!

Austin: I just need my guy.

Milk Does a Body Good

Several of my friends have asked if I REALLY get milk delivered to my house each week. Like, by a MILKMAN. And the answer is yes. Yes I do. And it is awesome. In our process of getting settled in I noticed the milk delivery truck stopping at several neighbors homes. The driver saw me outside talking to our movers one day and came over, introduced himself, and gave me some information about their services. Like the fact that you can do everything online, and change your order weekly. Because they have SO much more than milk. The rest is history. How could I not want farm fresh local milk delivered straight to my door in thick returnable glass bottles that make your milk get so cold in the fridge that you wanna smack somebody because it tastes so good? Exactly. That's why I just wrote the longest sentence in the history of my blog to describe it.

 Last week's haul.
Chris is a fan of the cider.
Which now makes me want to watch that movie The Cider House Rules.

 Yum. O.

The awesomely retro porch box cooler that I bought from them.
Loves it.
